Every Ryan Reynolds Movie, Ranked

Prepare for plenty of sass and dick jokes.
Comments

It's easy to get some of Ryan Reynolds' filmography mixed up, as it's awash in dick jokes and sass. Yet, he's become one of the most lovable actors of the 2000s, where his entire career has led him into the groundbreaking Deadpool franchise. And even though we know him best as a loudmouth with a heart of gold, he's broken out of his comfort zone and in turn, delivered some excellent films. Join us as we rank every Ryan Reynolds movie ever made.

34| R.I.P.D. (2013)

R.I.P.D. stands for Rest in Peace Department. Get it?

33| Self/Less (2015)

To be fair, wouldn't we all want to be billionaires trapped in the extremely handsome body of Ryan Reynolds?

32| National Lampoon's Van Wilder (2002)

The blatant racism, sexism, and body shaming of Van Wilder was bad at the time, and really hasn't aged any better.

31| Fireflies in the Garden (2008)

The most tragic thing about this movie is how many fireflies they murder during the "fireflies in the garden" scene.

30| The Amityville Horror (2005)

In this economy, it's worth dealing with the demons and murders for such a great price on a nice piece of property.

29| Green Lantern (2011)

A movie so bad, Deadpool traveled back in time to kill Ryan Reynolds before he read the script.

28| The Change-Up (2011)

Film producers really get a kick out of making Ryan Reynolds switch bodies with other people.

27| Blade Trinity (2005)

Certainly the low point of the Blade trilogy, but Parker Posey as a vampire is definitely a plus.

26| Smokin' Aces (2007)

So many people with bloodshot eyes firing guns.

25| Coming Soon (1999)

Before he was in "American Pie for horrible people" he was in "American Pie for girls," as this film was billed.

24| The Captive (2014)

The real captive is anyone trapped watching this film.

23| Criminal (2016)

t's so very close to another movie in which someone's mind gets put into Ryan Reynolds' body, except this is a movie where Ryan Reynolds' mind gets put into Kevin Costner's body.

22| Chaos Theory (2008)

Even if you've somehow seen this movie, I guarantee you have no idea what it's about.

21| Waiting (2005)

A movie that will convince you to avoid all restaurants and anything involving Dane Cook.

20| Paper Man (2011)

Ryan Reynolds' bleached hair though.

19| The In-Laws (2003)

Not a movie about Blake Lively's parents.

18| X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

Another movie so bad, Deadpool had to travel back in time to fix the timeline inconsistencies.

17| The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)

Who's the better action guy, Samuel L. Jackson or Ryan Reynolds? More importantly, who cares?

16| Just Friends (2005)

In the 12 years since Just Friends was released, the term "friendzoned" has effectively become a thing of the past. And this movie could use the same treatment.

15| The Proposal (2009)

Here's one very realistic situation that would absolutely happen exactly how it took place in this movie with zero plot holes or absurd jumps in logic.

14| Safe House (2012)

Ryan Reynolds learns never to waterboard Denzel Washington.

13| Woman in Gold (2015)

Points here for Helen Mirren and one of the most educational films of Ryan Reynolds' career.

12| The Nines (2007)

I'm still convinced this is some meta movie attempting to connect the Ryan Reynolds Cinematic Universe.

11| The Croods (2013)

The Croods is a lovable prehistoric family that never leaves the cave until they leave the cave. Moral of the story: Never leave the cave.

10| Turbo (2013)

Fun Fact: Ryan Reynolds doesn't say the word "fuck" once in this film.

9| Life (2017)

Everybody thought this movie was a prequel to Venom until it wasn't.

8| Dick (1999)

The only dick jokes in Ryan Reynolds' entire filmography that are referring to the 37th president of the United States.

7| Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)

While this is still a raunchy slacker comedy, it's at least a raunchy slacker comedy that subverts racial stereotypes—featuring a cameo by Ryan Reynolds as an OR nurse.

6| Definitely, Maybe (2008)

This classic late 2000s "romance mystery" is basically How I Met Your Mother in which Ryan Reynolds has to explain what a threesome is to a 10-year-old.

5| Buried (2010)

Ryan Reynolds is buried in a box in what's kind of like a film version of that Kill Bill 2 scene, but with a suspense element that's more than just a gimmick.

4| The Voices (2015)

Think of it as if Psycho had talking animals and was also a quirky indie comedy.

3| Adventureland (2009)

A nostalgic and surprisingly sweet coming-of-age story, where Reynolds is a deadbeat park mechanic and unlikely mentor who definitely never played with Lou Reed.

2| Mississippi Grind (2015)

In one of his finest dramatic acting performances, Reynolds plays the lucky charm to a down-and-out gambling addict in this fiercely underrated road trip film about middle America.

1| Deadpool (2016)

Within the context of his entire filmography, this was the role Reynolds entire career had been building to—the sassy, loudmouth, anti-hero. It's a combination of physical acting voice acting and absolute personality that only Reynolds could pull off. It's the character he'll be remembered for.
