Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed exactly when Avengers: Endgame got its title.

And, yep, it's everything to do with why Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange says the word "endgame" in last year's Avengers: Infinity War.

Speaking to MTV at the Golden Globes 2019, Feige was asked when the title came about. "It was in place before we started developing the movie," he said.

"Or just as we were developing it," Feige added. "So Doctor Strange says that line because we knew it was the title."

In Infinity War, Strange is heard saying: "We're in the endgame now," shortly after giving Thanos the Time Stone.

However, the word "endgame" was also uttered by Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), way back in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

"That up there," Tony Stark states, referring to the events of the first film when the titular team withstood an alien invasion of New York. "That's the endgame."

The long-awaited sequel to Infinity War picks up from that devastating ending as the remaining Avengers attempt to defeat Thanos.

We don't know that much about the movie, though thanks to set photos and the like, we do know that a whole host of deceased MCU characters will be back in Avengers 4.

We also know that the film is going to be epicin every sense of the wordwith the current cut clocking in at three hours long.
