Jeyrick Sigmaton, aka “Carrot Man” gained popularity in February 2016 after photos of him hauling carrots in Benguet were posted on Facebook by Edwina Bandong. The young Igorot’s shot to fame launched his modeling career, with a few EDSA billboards under his belt.

Sigmaton was nominated at this year's New York's International Film Festival Manhattan, Autumn edition, in which he won Best Actor for his work on Dayas, a short film about small-scale gold miners in the Cordilleras.

Director Jianlin Floresca gave a short statement on their win.

“We're very thankful to have the Best Actor award for Jeyrick Sigmaton. So on behalf of my actor and the entire cast of Sine Cordillera's Dayas, and also on behalf of all Igorots all over the world, bagi tayo daytoy (this is for all of us)," said Floresca.
