This Is the One Type Of Movie Christian Bale Will Never Make

"Have you ever enjoyed a romantic comedy?"
Comments

Kind of like a B+ Daniel Day-Lewis, Christian Bale is prepared to go to great lengths in the name of his C R A F T: lengths like getting really, really skinny for The Machinist, getting really, really strong for Batman and getting really, reallywellfat for his upcoming role as former vice-president Dick Cheney in Backseat.

But don't you dare ask him to do a romantic comedy, Hollywood.

Don't you dare!

Speaking to The Guardian ahead of the release of his gritty new Western, Hostiles, the notoriously hard-working method actor revealed his ire for the rom-com.

Or as Bale put it: “Have you ever enjoyed a romantic comedy?”

Well, 500 Days of Summer was quite nice, right? And Crazy Stupid Love isn't that bad...is it?

Anyway.

When the interviewer admitted that, actually, he quite liked When Harry Met Sally, Bale's response was cutting, to say the least: "That’s going back quite a ways, isn’t it? You’re hard pressed.

"I was asked to do a romantic comedy recently and I thought they’d lost their minds. Cats have those insane half hours every evening. I think it must have been that for the production company. I don’t know why anyone would ever offer me a romantic comedy. I find American Psycho very funny."

Errr, fair enough, Chris.

Did you hear that, Hollywood cats with lost minds?

Did you?
