“Maging totoo tayo sa salitang #kapamilya.”

These are the words of Enchong Dee, 31, for his fellow ABS-CBN stars.

After weeks of deliberation, Congress finally rejected the application of ABS-CBN's new franchise on July 10.

On Tuesday, July 14, Enchong posted on Instagram a photo of himself participating in a competition for the Philippine swimming team. Dee has competed at the Southeast Asian Games and the Asian Games for the Philippines.

Enchong said in the caption, “I’ve been fighting for my country since I was 13. Hindi madali at walang kasiguraduhan pero masarap sa puso.”

The actor said he will do the same for the network that has been his home for 15 years.

The 31-year-old actor promised, "I will not stop speaking against the evil that surrounds us. Being bashed is a small price to pay to be in the right side of history."

Enchong also called on his fellow Kapamilya stars to not to be silent during this time as many have also lost their second home.

ABS-CBN Franchise ‘Killed’ in Congress

With a voting outcome of 70 for "Yes" and 11 for "No," the House Committee on Legislative Franchises killed ABS-CBN Corporation's appeal to grant them a new 25-year legislative franchise.

In the early stages of the congressional hearing, many thought that the committee was divided on their decision when it came to voting.

But when voting day came, it was a landslide result in favor of canceling the broadcast giant's franchise application.

Batangas 6th District Representative Vilma Santos-Recto wondered why they got so few votes in favor of the renewal.

Vilma is the author of House Bill No. 4305, one of 14 bills filed with the House Committee on Legislative Franchises for the new ABS-CBN franchise.

The veteran actress said in an interview with Peter Musngi and Pat-P Daza on DZMM after the poll, “You know, honestly, both of you, I was also surprised. Because initially, even at the hearings, especially during the first days of hearing it, I know that at least many people support this bill that we are fighting for—the renewal of franchise on ABS-CBN. If you were surprised, at least I was surprised earlier, 'Why are we ... very significant, why did we suddenly become eleven?'"
