Filipinos and Filipino-Americans Dominated the 2022 Grammy Awards Red Carpet
The 2022 Grammys have come and gone—smoothly, if we might add. There weren't any big, unexpected moments (unlike the Oscars), but we still got good surprises like glorious wins from Filipino-American artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Bruno Mars, and H.E.R. Rodrigo was up for seven Grammy awards, and she ultimately took home three awards: Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Pop Vocal Album.
Bruno Mars won Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Leave the Door Open" with Silk Sonic, as well as Best R&B Performance. Mars is now the second artist in Grammy history to win Record of the Year three times. While H.E.R. won Best Traditional R&B Performance for "Fight for You." In total, she was nominated for eight awards.
Filipinos and Filipino-Americans also dominated the red carpet. There were Grammy-nominated rapper Saweetie, stand-up comic Jo Koy, singer Kiana V, and rapper Ruby Ibarra who wore a pinya silk dress that features lyrics of her awarding-winning song "Us" about being a Filipino-American. Here's a look at the Filipinos and Filipino-Americans who walked the 2022 Grammy Awards red carpet.
