UPDATE: In an interview with U.K. paper Metro, Maisie Williams let slip what appears to be the month that Game of Thrones Season Eight will premiere in 2019. The good news is that we won't have to wait until summer 2019 for the long-awaited new season to debut. “We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019],” Williams said. “That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”

So, there's at least a tiny slimmer of hope.

Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield; co-executive producers, Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Game of Thrones will take a year off, but this is the first official announcement that the show will return in 2019. There is no word yet about what the exact premiere date is, but previous rumors have said it could be early 2019.
