Moon Knight Star and French Actor Gaspard Ulliel Dies in Tragic Accident
French actor Gaspard Ulliel passed away almost two months before the release of his Marvel series Moon Knight.
He was 37 years old.
Gaspard’s skiing adventure at La Rosière ski resort in the French Alps in Savoie, Southeastern France, ended in tragedy on Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2022.

According to a CNN report, as he descended the top of the ski resort, the actor collided with another skier and they both fell.
The emergency team found him unconscious.
Gaspard was airlifted to Grenoble University Hospital Center where he died the next day, Wednesday, January 19.
Gaspard Ulliel's Body of Work
In Moon Knight, Gaspard plays Midnight Man, who is often the enemy of Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac).
Known as a talented actor, Gaspard has several times been included in the Cannes Film Festival for the French films A Very Long Engagement (2004) and La Princesse de Montpensier (2010).
Gaspard’s performance in Yves Saint Laurent’s biopic Saint Laurent was also contested at Cannes in 2014.
He won Best Actor at France’s most prestigious award-giving body, the Cesar Award, for the family drama film It’s Only The End of The World. The film also won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2016.
Gaspard met in the U.S. when he performed as young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising in 2007.
Tribute for Gaspard Ulliel
Some of Gaspard's co-workers expressed grief over his passing.
It’s Only The End of The World director Xavier Dolan posted on Instagram his memory of the great actor.
“It’s unbelievable, absurd, and so painful to even think of writing these words.

"Your discreet laugher, your caring gaze. Your scar. Your talent. Your listening skill. Your whispers, your kindness. All these personality traits emanated from a shining softness.
"Your whole being has transformed my life, a being that is loved deeply and that I will always love. I can't say anything more. I feel drained, shaken by your departure," Dolan said in French.
Hannibal Rising director Peter Webber is also deeply saddened.
"Shocked and saddened to hear about the death of Gaspard Ulliel at such a young age in a skiing accident.
“I have such fond memories of working with him all those years ago on Hannibal Rising.
"Rest in peace, dear friend," Webber tweeted.
Even French prime minister Jean Castex was saddened by the news of Gaspard's death.
He tweeted, "Gaspard Ulliel grew up with cinema and cinema grew up with him. They loved each other madly.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we will rewatch his most beautiful performances and catch his unique gaze.
