GMA-7 is in talks with ABS-CBN for a new batch of Star Cinema movies to be aired on the Kapuso network.
This is according to GMA Network chairman and chief executive officer Felipe L. Gozon during the corporation’s Annual Stockholders’ Meeting held on Wednesday morning, May 18, via Zoom.
The announcement follows the historic partnership deal that GMA 7 inked with ABS-CBN on April 5, 2022, to air some of the well-loved films from Star Cinema and Black Sheep, the two subsidiaries under ABS-CBN Films.
According to Gozon, the movie acquisition team of GMA-7 is in talks with ABS-CBN for a new list of movies that they will acquire.
He says, “We are currently in talks with ABS-CBN for another fresh batch of movies for acquisition.
“We are waiting for the available movie list from them for our team’s review and consideration.”
Some of the films that already aired on the Kapuso network were It Takes A Man And A Woman, Alone/Together, and No Other Woman.
Celebrities and users on the internet praise both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 for being open to a collaboration, which was close to impossible in the past because of the so-called network wars.
GMA-7 and ABS-CBN have long been competing over ratings and viewership, but that may change soon.
Gozon says, “After we have broken the ice, the door is now open for other partnerships with ABS-CBN that will be mutually beneficial to both of us.”
Some of the ABS-CBN Films-produced movies that will air on GMA-7 under this contract are the following: Hello Love Goodbye, The Hows of Us, How to Be Yours, Till My Heartaches End, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank, Ang Cute ng Ina Mo!, Just The Way You Are, Fantastica, Can We Still Be Friends?, Finally Found Someone, Won’t Last A Day Without You, Must Be... Love, The Panti Sisters, Isa Pa With Feelings, James & Pat & Dave, Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, Feng Shui, Suddenly It’s Magic, and I Love You, Hater.
