News5 Head Luchi Cruz-Valdes Confirms Ted Failon's Transfer to TV5

News5 head Luchi Cruz-Valdes has confirmed that veteran radio and television anchor Ted Failon will be a part of TV5. The announcement was made on News5's official Facebook page. According to Cruz-Valdes, Failon will now become a "Kapatid" from being a "Kapamilya."

The statement marks the end of a couple weeks' speculation about Failon's transfer to TV5.

Cruz-Valdes didn't mention when Failon would begin his anchor duties for the station but, according to PEP.ph's sources, Failon will join Radyo Singko 92.3 News FM on September 21. Failon will be on the radio show with his former tandem on Failon Ngayon, DJ Chacha. Sources also confirmed that Failon will be bringing in his staff from DZMM to Radyo Singko.

In an official statement on August 30, Failon became emotional as he bid goodbye to DZMM. He said: “Kahit anong hirap bumangon sa umaga dahil sa sama ng pangangatawan, sakit na iniinda, may pasan man na problema, babangon at babangon ka para sa iyong programa. Radio is my therapy. Dito po ako kumukuha ng lakas, dito ko po nakakalimutan ang napakaraming problema sa buhay."

On August 28, ABS-CBN closed its regional stations. A number of radio and television shows from the network are still available to watch on select platforms such as online, cable, and iWAntTFC.
