This Super Detailed Image of the Pink Supermoon Was Captured By a Filipino Photographer

Edwin Martinez, the Filipino landscape photographer, who shot those awesome images of the Northern Lights, turns his attention to another wonder of the night: the pink supermoon.

The brightest moon of the year shone down on us mortals on April 8, but Martinez has been working on the super detailed image of the not-really-pink moon for days already.

“I have been working on this image for about three days now, I wanted to capture the moon with high-quality details. This is a total of 72 photos taken with the Canon EOS R (at 1.6x digital crop) and EF 600mm lens last April 4, 2020,” he shares on Facebook. 

So how did he arrive at the shot? To capture the moon with mesmerizing clarity, the photographer manually aligned the 72 images, did a “mean and average stack,” kept the color below 80-percent illumination, and “tweaked the white balance a bit.”
