Robin Padilla is pro breast-feeding
The unofficial face of Philippine machismo is a strong advocate of breast-feeding.
His wife, former TV host Mariel Padilla (Mariel Rodriguez), gave birth on November 14 and the couple had been public with her struggle to produce breast milk. On November 20, 2016, Robin even posted an Instagram video of a tearful Mariel frustrated about how she can't feed their baby.
The couple resorted to formula, but Mariel was able to come through a few days later, a triumph once again documented on Instagram.
As the Padillas' breast-feeding journey continues, Robin reinforced his breast-feeding advocacy with this lengthy message, which he captioned under a photo of his wife and baby daughter, Isabella:
REPUBLIC ACT No. 10028
AN ACT EXPANDING THE PROMOTION OF BREASTFEEDING, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7600, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS “AN ACT PROVIDING INCENTIVES TO ALL GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE HEALTH INSTITUTIONS WITH ROOMING-IN AND BREASTFEEDING PRACTICES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES”
While a lot has been said about brotherhood, Robin has been impressed with the sisterhood he's witnessed among breast-feeding mothers. Yesterday, February 20, Robin created a video montage honoring this bond. In it, he notes how Camille Villar came to their rescue when Mariel couldn't provide enough milk. Mariel, in turn, helped new mother Rufa Mae Quinto in her hour of need. The clip, which plays "Amazing Grace" in the background, ends with the words "Breast Friends." Aw.
Good for you, Robin, for supporting your wife all the way.
This article does not intend to pressure mothers to breast-feed their children. We believe that infants should be fed and nurtured, whether it's breast milk or formula.
