This Video Explains How Every Chainsmokers Song is Written
Who knew that basic bros have feelings, too? If you’re not a fan of The Chainsmokers, or frat bros for that matter, it might come as a surprise to you.
This video, which was posted yesterday, and has already racked up about a million Youtube views, shows us the formula the popular EDM duo conceivably uses to come up with their hits. As expected, their songwriting ‘process’ is pretty basic, but the video’s explanation of how Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart might’ve come up with the lyrics is pretty entertaining.
If you can’t be bothered to look up an actual example of their simple songwriting skills, here’s the lyrics to their hit song Closer:
Hey, I was doing just fine before I met you
I drink too much
And that's an issue, but I'm okay
Hey, you tell your friends
It was nice to meet them
But I hope I never see them again
Not to discount any young person’s completely valid adolescent angst, but why not go with a band like Yo La Tengo instead. John McEnroe once introduced them on his TV show with these words: “If you like music that sucks, you’re gonna hate this next band.” And that's not something we could say about The Chainsmokers.
Or if you're adamant about duos, how about these two dudes from Vancouver?
