Filipino Photographer Captures The Secret Life of Ants—Using Only a Smartphone
It’s easy to assume that these stunning macro shots were taken using a bulky DSLR equipped with all sorts of gears, but in fact, these award-winning images, captured by Filipino photographer Analiza Daran de Guzman, were taken with only a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, clip-on macro lens, and a whole lot of resourcefulness.
After her DSLR camera broke on a trip to Palawan, De Guzman turned to mobile photography and discovered all the potential that one tiny phone can possess.
With only a phone, her backyard, and curious hardworking ants, De Guzman was able to capture the fascinating life of ants in her home in Rizal, eventually winning Agora’s #Water2020 photography contest in April thanks to her efforts.
In the incredible close-up shots, we see, in fine detail, ants carrying water droplets and flowers sometimes twice their size. De Guzman also got creative and managed to refract objects like globes, checkered patterns, and even the Philippine flag in the tiny water droplets.
