Manix Abrera Has Designed a Cover for a Batman Comic

Manix Abrera, the writer and artist perhaps best-known for his Kikomachine and News Hardcore comic strips, can add another feather to his already illustrious cap. On Tuesday (December 28), it was announced that the artist had designed the cover of an upcoming Batman comic.
Batman The Knight #1 is Abrera’s first-ever published cover for DC Comics. Written by Chip Zdarsky and illustrated by Carmine Di Giandeomenico, features “more details into the origin of the Dark Knight.”
Abrera himself has not publicly said anything about the cover reveal, except a teary/big smile emoji that came with his share of the news on Facebook.
The comic is expected to come out soon and will be available for pre-order soon at Sanctum Sanctorum Comics and Comic Odyssey.
Abrera has won multiple National Book Awards and has written and illustrated numerous books, including the graphic novel 14 and compilations of his News Hardcore and Kikomachine Komix.
He is the latest in a long line of talented Filipino artists whose work have appeared in international publications including DC and Marvel. The list includes people like Tony De Zuñiga, Nestor Redondo, Alfredo Alcala, Ernie Chan, Alex Niño, Gerry Talaoc, Romeo Tanghal, Whilce Portacio, Leinil Francis Yu, and many others.
