Picasso Is the Most Googled Artist in the World

Banksy comes close.

In case you were wondering: Pablo Picasso is the most searched for artist in the world. It makes sense, too. After all, the Spanish artist is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. That's not to say, however, that he doesn't have any competition.

A study by MyArtBroker on the online global art market reveals the rest of the most Googled artists in the world. Banksy came close as the most popular artist in 30 European countries. Picasso doesn't have to worry considering that he ranks the highest in 90 countries.

To come up with the results, MyArtBroker analyzed over 100 artists to find out the most popular artist in each country. Along with Picasso and Banksy, KAWS, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and more figured in the ranking.

Other interesting finds in the study include a prediction that the online global art market will increase by 494 percent by 2024. While the worth of the market is seen to grow to $9.32 billion by 2024.

"Due to the uncertainty caused by recent factors such as Brexit and the pandemic, there has been an increase in the number of people exploring new finance ventures," the report said. "The resilience of the art world means that through precarious times, the market has been able to recover better than other industries and therefore offers a safer investment option."
