Why can't we just have nice things?

The kingdoms of Super Mario Odyssey have been compromised...with porn. Cover your eyes, kiddos.

Polygon reports that in the last week, hackers have found a way to infiltrate the "Rated E 10+" Nintendo Switch game with pornographic images thanks to a developer software called DevMenu that got into the wrong hands. DevMenu allows hackers to upload custom avatar images for Odyssey characters, and lo and behold, some have chosen to upload photos and illustrations of naked people.

Normally, Odyssey players can only choose Nintendo-approved avatars called Miis or Nintendo universe characters.

The hackers have only infiltrated Luigi's Balloon World so far. In this mode, users search for hidden balloons, which show the avatar of the user who hid them. Now, finding some of these balloons comes with an added bonus: surprise porn avatars.

To avoid the X-rated version of Super Mario Odyssey, Polygon advises to simply switch the game to offline mode. It won't be as fun, but at least you can keep Mario pure of soul.
