What's a 'smartphone e-brand for digital natives', then?

It's what Honor, a sub-brand of the Chinese tech company Huawei, is calling itself. The 'digital natives' bit refers to its products being optimized for streaming and gaming. The 'smartphone e-brand' tag means you more usually buy their stuff online, not in shops. Both of these are good things. No third party overheads means better prices, and to get a phone this powerful for under £500 (around P31,000) is impressive.

The slimline 6.97-mm body houses a 5.7-inch QHD resolution screen, a high-density battery gives two days of run time on one charge, and the latest Kirin chipset makes this possibly the fastest phone we've ever handled. The 12MP dual-lens camera pulls off some clever depth of field effects, while the box also doubles as a VR headset. Available in Esquire-approved navy blue, this is one slick beast.

You can pre-order from Honor's vMall.eu today or buy from Amazon from 20 April
