This Retirement Home Is a Contemporary Bungalow That's Stunningly Modern

That’s exactly the idea that the architects Justine Amore Garcia and Paul Joshua Soliman had in mind when they built this contemporary bungalow for a couple’s retirement home in Pampanga.

Spanning across 1,000 square meters, the property easily contains the actual living space and various areas for activity and relaxation.

The biggest feature of the property is the mini golf driving range with a viewing deck in one corner.

The viewing deck not only allows the owners to see the fishpond that surrounds the property, but it also serves as a resting space outside the main house. It has brise soleil strategically installed on opposite ends to block the morning and afternoon sun.

The 300-square-meter main house has an open plan, with glass doors and windows to promote natural ventilation and lighting.

The architects said they made the living area especially grand and spacious because the owners want to invite guests over.

To promote a healthy lifestyle in retirement, the property also has a gym with a view of the mini golf course outside.

A small sauna also sits in a corner of the gym for complete relaxation and wellness.

“Since this is a retirement house, the owners talaga would promote wellness and longevity of life,” the architects say.

The couple could also bask in a tropical vibe in the lap pool and jacuzzi right outside the house.

But this retirement home is also made to give the owners a sense of fulfillment. That’s why there is a gallery hall where the couple could reminisce about their awards and achievements.

Soliman says the gallery hall inspired the project name Domus Vista, which means dwelling and view.

“This retirement house is not a house alone. Kumbaga gusto mo magpahinga talaga, gusto mo magkaroon ng enough spaces, enough leisure, at the same time, a certain sense of fulfillment kasi siyempre ito na yung retirement home nila,” Soliman says.

The architects also made sure to include the couple’s request.

Outside the house, there is a brick oven. “Since nagta-travel sila abroad, gusto nila i-incorporate sa bagong bahay nila itong feeling of authenticity sa cooking,” the architects say.

The couple also asked for a walk-in close. The luxurious placehas a well-ventilated space dedicated for the bags, and a vanity area made special with accent lights.
