There's always a reason to celebrate turkey
America may be celebrating Thanksgiving today, but at The Bowery, Thanksgiving will go on forever—or for the rest of the year, at least. Burgos Circle’s New York-inspired joint is offering a special Thanksgiving Dinner menu starting Thursday, November 24, until the end of the holiday season (that means after Christmas).
Inspired by Chef Cuit Kaufman’s thanksgiving dinners with his family in Washington D.C., the menu offers traditional fare from the holiday, led by a whole roast turkey served with brandy-laced turkey gravy and homemade cranberry sauce. The latter is particularly flavorful especially when paired with the turkey meat, as the saltiness of the roast contrasts with the sweet-sour nature of the cranberry.
Sourdough Bread Stuffing is served on the side, a chunky mess of bread, celery, onions, and turkey broth that is delightfully savory. Among the available side dishes (guests can choose three from six available), the Sweet Potato Mash with Roasted Marshmallows, Bowery’s take on candied yams, stands out for its smooth and sugary bite.
The menu also offers a list of recommended add-ons, which includes drinks such as Bourbon Egg Nog or Sangiovese Merlot, appetizers like a four-cheese Cheese Board and Baked Camembert, and a pumpkin pie alternative, Grandma’s Pear Pie. Served with vanilla ice cream and hot toddy caramel sauce, this dish was inspired by Chef Cuit’s paternal grandmother’s recipe. “My dad hated apples,” he explains.
True to its comfort food aesthetic, Bowery strives to recreate the holiday meal just the way it’s prepared at home—no frills, just flavor. And just like every authentic, home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner, this whole setup takes a while to prepare. Reservations must be made four days in advance.
