The Internet Isn't As Celebratory As the Pope Is About the Philippines' 500 Years of Christianity
It's been a pretty busy week for Christianity. First, Pope Francis celebrated mass to mark the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines. Time flies. Then, there's the Vatican's recent statement that it will not bless same-sex unions.
So yeah... busy. Let's get into that celebration, though. The festivities didn't stop at the mass. The Pope also sent out a message on Twitter, saying: "Dear brothers and sisters from the #Philippines, five hundred years have passed since the Christian message first arrived in your land and you received the joy of the Gospel. And this joy is evident in your people. Thank you for the joy you bring to the whole world!"
Let's just say Filipino Twitter isn't as celebratory as the Pope is about the Philippines' 500 years of Christianity. Here's what social media had to say about the tweet.
