Adidas and Ikea Are Launching a Collaboration

Ikea is not one dimensional. Sure, it still stands as many a person's first foray into adulthood, offering respectable home furnishings for an affordable price. But the brand isn't stopping there: Ikea just announced that it's partnering with sports powerhouse Adidas on a collaboration. The two brands are going to work together to connecting Ikea's speciality (the home) with Adidas' (sports) by crafting an easier way to workout at home. To start, the brands will be leaning into research by studying, learning, and analyzing how individuals incorporate wellness into their homes.

“Home is where we create life-long habits," Marcus Engman, Head of Design at IKEA of Sweden, said in a statement. "Teaming up with Adidas, we want to understand what wellness means to different people, and what role their living spaces play in this. By doing so, we can create homes that are better designed to enable better habits and more active living.” If this means creating an Adidas-heavy smart gym inside of a home, you can bet we're here for it. The two companies will spend time learning about habits of people across ages and countries to get a solid read on what would streamline their approach to a healthy home.

“Our goal is to make sport accessible to everyone," Josefine Aberg, VP of Design at Adidas, said in a statement. "Working with IKEA, we’ll look at why some people are more active than others, especially young women, and explore what role the home can play in removing barriers to fitness.”

Although the newly announced partnership doesn't have a ton of information out yet, we've got high hopes. And we're very excited to see what's next.
