Candles are one of the easiest and cheapest ways to make your entire home feel brand new. Creating a good home aesthetic basically requires that it smells good. You have to engage all of the senses to make the whole vibe feel strong. It should look good, feel good, and you bet it better smell good.

Candles are sometimes thrown off as a useless item worthy of regifting and little else. This narrative needs to be changed and it needs to be changed now. Candles are important for the home and a very good gift to give and to get. The key is all in making sure you're shopping for good ones. Good doesn't have to mean expensive; it just means that there is some thought behind the candle making and the candle buying. Good also means it doesn't smell cheap. None of that.

There are some great options to start or continue your candle journey, too. Here, we rounded up 10 of the best ones to shop right now. There are some classic favorites—Malin & Goetz, P.F. Candle Co.—and some smaller batch makers you might not have come across yet, like Harlem Candle Company and DorothyBCo. We included a range of scents, too, all of which are worth testing out, by the way. It's all in the craft, seeing which smell you like in which room. It's a fun way to play with your home without having to really do too much.

MALIN+GOETZ
P3,000 AT ADORA

Malin+Goetz's candles are one of our favorite candles to gift. They're decently sized and packed with easy, non-obtrusive scents. The Otto option has some floral in, which is balanced with a tough combination of cardamom, clove and black pepper.

Bibliotheque Candle

BYREDO
P5,080 AT NORDSTROM

Byredo is a level up for those who know they like candles but are looking for something a little more special. Bibliothèque belongs in a moody living room or around a whole bunch of books (but not too close, obviously). The base is patchouli and the top notes include peach, plum and vanilla, making it strong but not heavy.

HARLEM CANDLE COMPANY
P2,574 AT AMAZON

Harlem Candle Company makes its candles with inspiration from, you guessed it, Harlem. The brand's whole shtick is based in celebrating culture that Harlem has engendered. This one uses Harlem poet and musician Langston Hughes as its muse. The result: a charming mix of clove, vanilla, jasmine, sandalwood and amber.

Cashmere Kush

BOY SMELLS
P5,200 AT LIT LIFESTYLE PH

For the weed lovers who don't want the place to smell like an actual joint but would like to allude to smelling like an actual joint. The earthy smell comes from a combination of pot flower, cashmere wood, white amber, vetiver, and tulip. These candles are all hand-poured in Los Angeles.

D.S. & DURGA
P3,669 AT NORDSTROM

D.S. & Durga is one of those candle brands that just knows what it is doing. Seriously, nothing will help establish your home's signature scent more than these. This scent is a light lavender mixed with grass and suede. It's silky and smooth.

Teakwood & Tobacco Candle

P.F. CANDLE CO.
P2,150 AT LIT LIFESTYLE PH

Another old favorite: anything P.F. Candle Co. It's one of the cheapest candle brands around but just doesn't give off that cheap candle smell. They are great for starter scents, too, if you have no idea where to begin and don't want to overcommit. (The teakwood and tobacco or amber scents are crowd-pleasers.)
