We all know the Philippines is one of the world’s best tropical destinations. Plenty of lists have proven time and time again that, when it comes to sun, sand, and sea, our country ranks right up there with the best of them.

The latest honor comes from popular travel site Big 7 Travel, which has named one particular island in the Philippines as one of the 50 best in the world.

Cebu comes in at number 32 in Big 7 Travel’s annual list this year. The island in central Visayas is well-known for its history, food, culture, and of course, stunning beaches, so it’s no wonder the editors of the travel website included it in this year’s list

“Cebu Island is a tropical paradise in The Philippines; made up of Cebu Island and 167 other islands in the Visayas,” the writeup says. “There are sugar-white beaches, clear emerald waters, hot springs and several jungle waterfalls. For an unforgettable experience, you’ll want to head to Oslob on the southern tip of Cebu. This is where you can go swimming with whale sharks! Be sure to try some tuba, the coconut nectar wine which is best drunk fresh when it is still sweet.”

As in many other similar rankings, the list is highly subjective. Making it to the Top 10 Best islands in the world are, in descending order: Mauritius; Jamaica; Koh Mak, Thailand; Anguilla; Madeira, Portugal; Lummi Island, Washington, USA; Moreton Island, Australia; havelock Island, Andaman Islands, India; Flatey, Iceland; and Menorca, Spain.
