A study published in the Journal of Neuroscience says that dogs aren't wired to focus on our faces. You probably think that's a load of bull considering that your dog clearly responds to your face but its really not the case.
In an interview with NBC News, study co-author Attila Andics says that while dogs do pay attention to human faces in a way, they also equally pick up things from body language and voice cues. That's compared to humans who really value other human faces.
The authors tested 30 humans and dogs in MRI machines while showing two-second videos of a dog face, a human face, and the backs of each. Human brains lit up when another human face was shown, while dog brains were more active with other dogs.
