A few years ago, basketball superstar James Yap welcomed the team of YES! Magazine into his 140sqm, two-bedroom condo unit in Bonifacio Global City. The place is stunning and hotel-like—with captivating lighting fixtures and furniture picks that highlight classic elegance and modern details. While the space was semi-furnished when James bought it, his friend and interior designer Kim Policarpio still worked on a few adjustments to create a pad where the cager can relax and unwind after game day.

Describing the final look as “modern, contemporary, classic,” Policarpio chose James’s favorite colors—black, white, and gray—as the base of the color scheme. Meanwhile, streamlined furniture pieces that appeal to the owner’s style were also brought in to complete the place. Kim also made sure to have some of the items customized, taking into consideration the height and frame of James and his teammates.

Living Area
An open layout welcomes guests into the unit. To separate the different areas, various chairs and area rugs were used to complete each. In the living area, leather seats and a sofa can accommodate guests, while glass tables add to the airy feel of the unit and give it a sophisticated touch. Luxe lighting pieces add warmth and a high-end feel to the space.

Meanwhile, the dining area features a rectangular glass table and matching velvet high-back chairs.

Breakfast Bar
A breakfast bar completed with a trio of high leather and steel chairs is incorporated into the open kitchen, giving James extra space to accommodate more guests. The absence of walls and dividers separating the different areas in the home gives it an airy and spacious feel.

Kitchen
The cooking area is sleek, compact, and perfect for the basketball player. While James admits he doesn't cook, he still gets to enjoy home-cooked meals thanks to his driver and daytime helper. The kitchen cabinets follow the unit's overall aesthetic, with its mirrored doors and streamlined appeal.

Entertainment Area
A balance between comfort and elegance can be seen in the entertainment area furnished with a plush sofa and a leather chair in one corner. The area is a study in symmetry: aside from the matching cabinets, two round tables also flank the rectangular coffee table.

The TV, speakers, and DVD player are kept in a mirrored shelf with drawers underneath for extra storage. For a cohesive look and to make use of space wisely, two mirrored cabinets that hold James' shoe collection were placed on both sides of the shelf. Working with mirrors enabled the designer to make the space look bigger and more spacious.

Bathroom
A tiny space shouldn't stop you from working with show-stopping details. In this bathroom, capiz and mother-of-pearl liven up the walls and give the space a distinct Filipino vibe. Paired with sleek fixtures, these accents make the T&B extra luxurious.

Master Bedroom
We're sure James can spend hours in his envy-worthy and hotel-like bedroom. The padded headboard that extends to the ceiling creates an illusion of space and gives the room an extra style boost. Our favorite piece in James' room? The classic Eames lounge chair, of course! It can double as an accent piece in the bedroom.

Aside from the cove lighting and modern wire chandelier that hangs from the ceiling, two lamps from The Pietro Collection sit on the side tables found on both sides of the bed. These pieces not only serve a purpose, it can double as decor, too.

Those aren't just mirrors! Mirror panels were used as closet doors to enable James to get ready quickly before he leaves the house. These reflective surfaces also help make the room look bigger and add to sleek look of the private space.

Master Bathroom

James' T&B is spacious and completed with quality fixtures, including Laufen sink and toilet accessories. These pieces are complemented by the floor tiles with stainless steel trimming.

While the bathroom has a see-through wall, pulling down a hidden waterproof screen gives the owner privacy while bathing. A few steps from the bathroom is the walk-in closet where more of James' shoes and his clothes are neatly stored.
