This Filipino Designed a Lego Ideas Set, And It Sold Out Within a Day

It's always fun to see Lego versions of real-life things. The planning! The many hours of building! The intricate details! And all the Lego pieces! Try as we might, we're not all Lego My Own Creation designers... but at least with Lego Ideas, which allows user submitted sets to come to life, we can be part of the fun. Sort of.

One of the newest Lego Ideas sets is a reconstruction of 123 Sesame Street which was designed by Filipino commercial filmmaker Ivan Guerrero. And, it amazingly sold out within a day. See more photos of Guerrero's Lego set below.

Only 32 Lego Ideas sets have been released so far, the latest is Guerrero's 123 Sesame Street.

In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Guerrero said that the response from his creation was overwhelming. Since selling out, he's received a lot of messages from both Lego and Sesame Street fans all over the world.

The 1,376-piece set is the first Sesame Street Lego product.

It reportedly took Guerrero months and 2,945 bricks to complete the design. He even researched New York apartment buildings from the '60 through '70s to be as accurate as possible.

Of course, the set comes with Sesame Street minifigures.

Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Elmo, Bert, and Ernie are all new to Lego. Guerrero had to go around the character's features such as finding substitutes for the puppet-like fur, feathers, and hair.

"I grew up on Sesame Street. The show was one of my first teachers. It taught me how to read, write, count and laugh. I’m also an enormous fan of Jim Henson. His creations have played an important role in shaping my creative career," says Guerrero.

The set is jam-packed with memorable moments and details from the children's TV show.
