In what has to be the most unsurprising news of the week it has been revealed thatyesmoney can actually buy you happiness.

But there's a catch. According to researchers at Cambridge University who studied 77,000 bank transactions by 625 people over 6 monthsspending only makes you happier if it's on things that match your personality type.

The brains behind the research divided every transaction into spending categories that were then matched to the "Big Five" personality traits: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.

So, for instance, someone who possesses a conscientious personality will find happiness in spending money on the gym. Whereas someone with an extraverted personality will find more happiness in spending that same money at the pub.

Sandra Matz, the lead author of the study said: "Our findings suggest that spending money on products that help us express who we are as individuals could turn out to be as important to our well-being as finding the right job, the right neighborhood or even the right friends and partners."

I suppose it's time for us to finally pull the trigger on those Common Projects in the name of personal fulfilment, then?
