Here's What Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will Be Eating at the Royal Wedding
Shocker: It won't be bangers and mash.

Okay patriots, you can toss all your presumptions about bad English shepherd's pie and sausage bangers away. The menu at the royal wedding will be good.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to have their wedding reception catered by Table Talk, which boasts "sensational food" at "bespoke events," the Telegraph reports. Prince William and Kate Middleton also used Table Talk for their 2011 wedding, as did Pippa Middleton and her husband James Matthews, and if it ain't broke...

Judging by its Instagram account, Table Talk serves food that is appropriately modern and three-dimensional.

And because Markle used to run a lifestyle blog she called "The Tig," named for a Tuscan red wine called Tignanello, there is much speculation that red wine will be served in abundance. (TBD on whether royal weddings constitute open bar situations.)

As for the cake, it warranted its own Kensington Palace announcement when a pastry chef was chosen: Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes, an organic bakery in London. The cake itself will be "lemon elderflower," which sounds as close to healthy as a cake can. Ptak's previous cake work has been delightfully spring-y with an abundance of flowers.

So that's what we know about the spread for those privileged enough to be on the guest list. But there's a second tier of guests who didn't luck out: the 1,200 commoners picked to crowd the grounds at Windsor Castle and welcome Harry and Markle after the ceremony. Those guests, according to the Guardian, were encouraged to bring "a picnic lunch" in their invitations because the royal family would not be feeding them. One commoner described this decision as "unfathomable." Quite.

As Harry, Markle, and all their important guests get ready to chow down on exquisitely crafted food, pour yourself a 5 a.m. beer and heat up some leftover pizza. It's going to be a long day.
