Princess Diana Wouldn't Wear the Chanel Logo Because of Prince Charles

There's no denying Princess Diana and Prince Charles' marriage and subsequent divorce was one of the most highly publicized relationships in the world. The royal couple tied the knot in front of 750 million people who watched it on live TV back in 1981, but their romance bitterly ended in 1996 because of the Prince's long time affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
With the recent unveiling of the Princess' statue in Kensington Palace, to commemorate what would have been her 60th birthday, the beloved royal's life has been thrust back into the spotlight—and so is her relationship with her husband. It also doesn't help that the fourth season of the hit Netflix series The Crown, zeroes in on Diana's beginnings as a royal; ultimately shattered the fairytale image the real royal couple had built back in the ‘80s.
In the show, Camilla was an unavoidable presence that plagued Diana even before she walked down the aisle. If you're wondering if there's any truth to this, the Princess' former butler and confidant Paul Burrell actually spoke publicly of Diana's troubles with her husband's mistress. In fact, she hated the thought of Charles and Camilla so much she grew to despise the interlocking C logo of Chanel!
In an interview with British daytime talk show host Lorraine Kelly, Burrell revealed this all started when Diana spotted Charles wearing cuff-links with interlocking Cs during their honeymoon on the royal yacht Britannia in 1981. Since then, the Princess of Wales could not bear to look or wear any item that resembled Camila's wedding gift to Charles. Her butler personally said that Diana tasked him to remove ALL the Chanel logos off her designer shoes and handbags. “Of course they were Chanel! Most girls would die for that emblem! But not the Princess. She didn't want to be reminded of that affair which she had to live with,” he shares.
As they say, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Unfortunately, Chanel was the designer brand that took a beating and the Princess was never seen flaunting the Parisian logo after her divorce. Watch the full interview below.
