UP and Ateneo Continue to Lead Philippine Universities at World University Rankings

London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has released its ranking of the world's top universities for 2020.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continues to top the list for the eighth consecutive year. While Stanford University and Harvard University ranked second and third respectively.

Other universities in the top 10 include the University of Oxford, California Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, University of Cambridge, UCL, Imperial College London, and the University of Chicago. Check out the full rankings here.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines (UP) and Ateneo de Manila University led the rest of the Philippine universities on the list. UP figured at 356 while Ateneo ended up in the 601 to 650 range. The only other Philippine universities on the list are the University of Santo Tomas and De La Salle University, which both ranked in the 801 to 1,000 range.

This year, 117 universities from the U.S. fell in the rankings. According to QS, the drop is due to a decline in international students.

The QS World University Rankings is the most widely viewed university ranking worldwide. The annual publication has provided comparative data about university performance since 2004.

QS also provides services, analytics, and insight on the global higher education center to "enable motivated people anywhere in the world to fulfill their potential through educational achievement, international mobility, and career development."
