SM Is Turning the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds Into Drive-In Movie Theaters

Good news: You can finally go back to watching movies at the mall. Notice how we didn't say 'in' because SM has brought back the idea of drive-in movie theaters in the Philippines.

SM first tried out the idea at SM City Pampanga, and seeing how successful it was, SM Cinema has launched the Movies By the Bay experience at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds starting September 9.
Now, on to details. The drive-in cinema will be open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The first two movies to be shown will be Train 2 Busan: Peninsula and Unhinged. Both action-horror-thrillers that are fitting for our current situation, pandemic and all.
We know you have questions, though, as dozens of cars parked in one place need a lot of organization. SM's answer? There will only be one movie screening per day, and it starts at 6:45 p.m. on a 20 meter by 8.5 meter outdoor screen. Each vehicle will be assigned parking spots, and there will be traffic marshals around while the grounds can accommodate 106 cars per screening.
Plus, you need to be there 30 minutes before screening time. Your car's FM radio will act as your speakers, with a specific frequency chosen for broadcasting. Tickets must also be purchased online in advance at P400 per person (a four person maximum per car is also in place).
