This Travel Oregon Ad Looks Like Something Out of a Studio Ghibli Movie
When Filipinos plan trips to the United States, major cities like New York, San Francisco, or Los Angeles are the first destinations that usually come to mind. But with this new tourism ad, we foresee people from all over the world making plans to visit Oregon.
Travel Oregon’s latest ad is an animated video that is awfully reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki’s films. From giant rabbits in fields of spring flowers and people dining in hot air balloons to whales swimming in the sky, the video conveys that sense of wonder and delight that is Miyazaki’s trademark.
And according to Travel Oregon, this is an “only slightly exaggerated” depiction of what tourists experience. “Oregon is magic,” their website says. “It’s something that can’t quite be captured in photos or film. It’s a feeling you get when you’re here.”
Basing their ad off of Studio Ghibli’s aesthetic is stroke of marketing genius, given that Oregon is known for its breathtaking mountains and forests, and many of Hayao Miyazaki’s films highlight man’s relationship with nature.
While we’re certainly not expecting to see flying whales, the ad has definitely piqued our interest in seeing what Oregon has to offer. If you’d like to visit a place that makes you feel like you’re in My Neighbor Totoro or Howl’s Moving Castle, check out Travel Oregon’s website.
