Apparently, Most Filipinos Want to Retire in Thailand and Canada
As it stands, retirement seems like a far away thought. But, like you, that doesn't stop us from dreaming about what we'd be doing then and where we'd go to retire. Need ideas? A new study by Money.co.uk reveals where exactly Filipinos want to retire.
There are, of course, the most popular retirement destinations around the world like France, Canada, and Argentina. Turns out, however, most Filipinos are thinking of retiring to Thailand. It's pretty surprising since Thailand is kind of similar to the Philippines with both being in the tropics, but the study shows Filipinos like Thailand for a retirement that's full of adventure.
After Thailand, a lot of Filipinos also want to retire to Canada, Australia, Japan, and Portugal. Overall, Canada also seems to be popular with people from Asian countries.
"Canada was the number one choice for those hoping to retire abroad in Asia, with six countries searching for retirement in Canada the most," researchers said. "While it might not be the cheapest place to retire, it is known for being a friendly, welcoming and safe destination, making it a popular choice for many. The country is also home to some of the most beautiful scenery and natural beauty spots in the world, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to tick-off items on a bucket list."
The Philippines itself is popular as a retirement destination with five countries looking to retire in our country. Check out the top countries the world wants to retire to below.
