Jerrold Tarog's Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral is set to hit theaters in exactly one week. In the lead up, audiences will get to look back at its predecessor, the revolutionary film that started it all: Heneral Luna. Starting today, Luna—the first of the planned Artikulo Uno trilogy, also directed by Tarog—is showing in select cinemas nationwide. Catch it here:

The director himself has said in a press conference that while you don't need to see Heneral Luna to appreciate Goyo, it certainly helps to go in with that perspective. After all, Goyo takes place in the immediate aftermath of its predecessor, mere days after the assassination of Antonio Luna. Viewers may still remember the first film's epic final moments, but the rest is certainly worth revisiting. It would also help to see Angelito, the short film that bridges Luna to Goyo, for a full understanding of the upcoming sequel.
