If you’re still reeling from the Spider-Man Endgame that was No Way Home, you’re not alone—and you’re not the only one who was lied to. For weeks, Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire were dodging No Way Home questions left and right, denying any involvement to press, fans, friends, and even their ex-co-stars.

That’s right—even Emma Stone was lied to. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Andrew Garfield revealed that even his Gwen Stacy wasn’t given clearance to know about No Way Home.

"Emma kept on texting me and was like, 'Are you in this new Spider-Man film?' and I was like, 'I don't know what you're talking about.' [Laughs] She was like, 'Shut up, just tell me.' I was like, 'I honestly don't know,' I couldn't even tell her, it was hilarious,” joked Garfield.

And like the rest of us, she realized the truth when her former co-star (and ex-boyfriend) showed up on screen when she went to watch the movie.

“She saw it and was like, 'You're a jerk.' [Laughs] I didn't want to tell anyone, I took it super seriously, I told no one.”

Even though Gwen Stacy didn’t make an appearance in the film, her presence was still very much felt in every scene Andrew Garfield appeared in without her. No Way Home is the first film Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker appears in post-Gwen Stacy’s tragic death. We’re not sure if months or years have passed since she fell from the tower, but Garfield’s Parker was still visibly dealing with the trauma of that event. But he gets a heartfelt healing arc when he saved Tom Holland’s Gwen (aka MJ, played by Zendaya) from a similar fate.

We can only guess how Emma Stone reacted to that pivotal moment in the movie, but if it was anything like ours, then we’re betting tissues were involved.
