Avengers: Endgame has been out for almost four months now. The film, which has now made over $2.795 billion at the global box office, has surpassed Avatar as the highest-earning movie of all time, worldwide. Only having been released for digital download on July 30, the international sensation has already been picked to pieces by diehard fans, meticulously examined for every last shred of Marvel lore that hides within the corners of the 3-plus-hour movie's CGI-laden frames. They've found Howard the Duck. They spotted familiar faces from Anthony and Joe Russo's Community past. And now, they've spotted a hidden gem in a promotional VFX reel released ahead of the film's upcoming physical release on September 2.

Cinesite, the London-based VFX company that provided the jaw-dropping computer-generated visuals for Endgame gave a teeny nod to fans of one of the MCU's most critically-adored films: Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Dr. Arnim Zola, the evil scientist who uploaded his consciousness into SHIELD headquarters (aka Hydra), can be seen Avengers: Endgame, as Cinesite's reel now confirms.

Zola can be seen at 0:44 of the reel. The scene in question here is the emotional "New Jersey" sequence of Endgame's time heist. After a botched attempt at recovering the Tesseract, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers return to the year 1970 for a last-ditch effort to collect all the Infinity Stones, and grab a few more Pym particles along the way. When Tony is walking through the '70s-era SHIELD base, Zola's face–or rather, his consciousness–can be seen a computer in the background, confirming that Hydra had infiltrated SHIELD 40 whole years before the events of Winter Soldier.

Avengers: Endgame will be released on September 2 on DVD, Blu-Ray, 3D, and 4k.
