Avengers: Infinity War's devastating ending really was all Star-Lord's fault, according to the Russo Brothers.

After the release of the movie, Chris Pratt revealed that some Marvel fans had been blaming Star-Lord for Thanos succeeding, given that the Avengers were seriously close to retrieving the Infinity Gauntlet before Star-Lord attacked Thanos for killing Gamora.

And now the directors have confirmed to Collider that, yes, the Snap might have been avoided if Star-Lord hadn't done what he did.

"That was the turning point of that scene. Again, these are flawed characters that make emotional choices, human choices [and] had Quill not done that, the movie might have ended right there," Joe Russo explained.

Earlier this year, Pratt had defended Star-Lord's actions in terms of the context of him losing everyone close to him.

"So I think he reacted in a way that's very human, and I think the humanity of the Guardians of the Galaxy is what sets them apart from other superheroes. I think if we did it a hundred times I wouldn't change a thing," he reflected.

"And also, I blame Thanos, OK? Jeez, how come he's not getting any blame? Clearly I'm very sensitive about this."
