Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.

Once they get over the excitement of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fans might have noticed something a bit off about one particular moment.

It's a surprise that few had expected and has been cleverly shrouded by Marvel and Disney, so only proceed past the photo if you've seen the movie or you just aren't that bothered being spoiled.

Still with us?

So, a key sequence of Avengers: Infinity War sees Thanos continue his mission to collect all the Infinity Stones, leading him to planet Vormir.

And who should he meet there but none other than Red Skull, seen for the first time in the MCU since the end of Captain America: The First Avenger when he grabbed the Tesseract (AKA the Space Stone) and disintegrated into nothing.

Or at least it looked that way. He had instead been transported to Vormir where he has been stranded for decades.

We won't go into the specifics of the Red Skull's critical involvement in Avengers: Infinity War, but eagle-eared Marvel fans might notice that it's not actually Hugo Weaving reprising his role.

Instead, the role has been recast with The Walking Dead's Ross Marquand, who may have even been giving a hint at his involvement with his choice of attire at the premiere.

We haven't been given any official reason for the recasting yet which isn't surprising given the nature of the cameo, although Weaving has been critical of Marvel in the pastso maybe he just decided not to return.

Marquand is as good as any replacement, as he's often showcased his wide range of celebrity impressions and he pulls off another one here.
