There’s no stopping pop culture-inspired baby names. We saw it happen when Luke and Leia popped up on popular baby name lists in the ‘70s, and again when Arya and Lyanna surfaced in the last few years. There are cool names, like Walter from Breaking Bad and Rue from Hunger Games, then there are cringe-worthy names, like Khaleesi and Ramsay from Game of Thrones (didn’t they parents see the ending?). Look, we get that pop culture is momentous and impactful, but names last forever. When your kid grows up and searches the origin of a name like Oberyn, he won’t be too pleased to know his namesake had his eyes gouged out by a madman (whoops, spoiler).

For the sake of the future of your children and their social status in school, we’ve listed down the names we do and don’t want to see pop up on popular 2020 baby name lists.
