Rez Cortez Erupts Into Dance For Your First Look at Khavn's New Film, 'Bamboo Dogs'

Following the huge successes and many controversies of Balangiga: Howling Wilderness, which swept up awards from QCinema, Gawad Urian, and FAMAS, director Khavn de la Cruz is back for more. His next film, Bamboo Dogs, just dropped its first teaser, and it's as bizarre as you might expect. Check it out:

If you're confused but vaguely entertained by the sight of a gyrating, wig-wearing Rez Cortez, don't worry—you aren't alone. But it may help in your interpretation of this teaser to know that Bamboo Dogs is a crime thriller based on the Kuratong Baleleng rubout massacre of 1995, involving police and members of the Kuratong Baleleng crime syndicate in an alleged shootout that eventually turned out to be a summary execution.

The current synopsis reads: "It's 1995 and Manila silently rots to the core. Thanks to a well-structured syndicate, criminals are free to roam the streets a day or two after being caught. Such would have been the fate of four "repeat offenders" until unseen hands throw in blows to blur the equation. If the gods play dice with the universe, you wouldn't want to be caught on the gambling table. Join Corporal, Skychurch, Meleubren, and Wereballs as the Bamboo Dogs take one helluva ride along the streets of Mondomanila where invisible forces create, protect and alas, destroy."
