Captain America's Enormous Quiff Has Inspired A Major 'Avengers: Endgame' Fan Theory

Compare these two Steve Rogers (Rogerses? Rogi?)

Time travel is very, very probably going to have a big part to play in how Avengers: Endgame sorts out the untimely dust-deaths of half the universe, and a little-noticed detail from the trailer has given us a pretty massive pointer as to how that's going to happen.

Over on Reddit, the user u/ak2sup pointed out that there's something fishy about Captain America. Compare these two Steve Rogers (Rogerses? Rogi?) from the Endgame trailer.

That doesn't look like quite the same bloke does it? The hair, the leather jacket, the single forlorn tear–all that's led some fans to speculate that the first Steve Rogers, the one with the quiff, is actually the Steve Rogers from the end of the first Avengers film.

The hair and costume look like a decent match–though that's being forensically dissected by Reddit's finest as we speak - and some leaked set photos do suggest that 2012-era Cap is going to be in Endgame, possibly in a rerun of the battle in New York which destroyed half the city. Meanwhile, the other Steve Rogers is the one who's lived through the various deaths and battles of the Avengers timeline as we've seen it so far.

People have also pointed out that the Infinity War trailer featured Hulk running around and Thor wearing an eyepatch, neither of which were scenes which ended up in the final film: that shows Marvel are perfectly happy to use trailers to misdirect and confuse everyone. It accords with the Steve Rogers Hairline Conspiracy too, which has come to be the Paul Is Dead of the Marvel universe. It's a rabbit hole, that one.
