Netflix Search Interest All Over the World Went Up by 142 Percent

The coronavirus pandemic has left us all self-isolating. If you're lucky enough to be at home, chances are, you're spending your newfound downtime looking up movies and TV series on Netflix. And you're not alone. Not even in the slightest.

New data shows that global interest in Netflix has gone up by 142 percent. That's according to LearnBonds, an economy website, whose data says people have been hitting Google to look up Netflix since the first week of March.

"By the second week of last month, the searches grew by 17.3 percent while towards the end of March, the popularity slightly grew by 1.1 percent to 89. By the first week of April 2020, the popularity score was at its peak of 100, a growth of 12.3 percent from the last week of March and 142 percent from a similar period last year," the report said.

It's clear the surge is all because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has rendered nearly a third of the global population immobile. Understandably, people are turning to streaming platforms like Netflix for entertainment.
