It's Really Happening. Disney+ Is Continuing Daredevil's Story in a New Show

Four years after Netflix canceled the fan-favorite Daredevil series, Disney+ will finally continue the story we’ve all been waiting for. Variety broke the news that a Daredevil series is in early production Disney+, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, it is believed that the series is a continuation of the Netflix Daredevil show.

If their hunch is correct, then that means that Netflix’s Marvel shows are quite possibly canon. Marvel has not announced any news about the Daredevil series, but once they officially introduce Daredevil in their Phase Four/Five lineup, this could mean another expansion for the already-huge Marvel multiverse.

According to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, it’s still unconfirmed whether Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Matt Murdoch/Daredevil, but after Cox made a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he’s almost assured his role back. Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio also reprised his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the Disney+ show Hawkeye, so we might just see more Netflix Marvel stars enter the official MCU.

Matt Corman and Chris Ord will write and executive produce the Daredevil series.

The original Daredevil show on Netflix was canceled in 2018, as were the other shows in the fan-dubbed “Marvel Knight” collective. These shows were Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders. All of these showed premiered on Netflix, and while they used Marvel characters, they were never officially acknowledged in the timeline of the MCU. If Disney+’s Daredevil is truly a continuation of the Netflix show, then we might just see the return of some heroes from the Marvel Knight collective.
