It's been five years since Erik Matti's On the Job, the director's breakthrough "neo-noir" film starring Joel Torre, Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, and Joey Marquez. Since then, the film's writer-director has announced a six-part spinoff miniseries, followed by the news that the producers have decided instead on a new film and a five-part miniseries.

Variety reports from the International Film Festival and Awards Macao circuit that Matti has confirmed that OTJ 2—originally the series pilot, before Matti decided to make it a full-length sequel—will wrap up filming in February 2019, and is being eyed for release by June 12, Independence Day. The five-part miniseries will follow the movie.

The first movie followed the story of two hired killers (played by Joel Torre and Gerald Anderson) who were temporarily released from prison to assassinate political targets, and the two law enforcers (Piolo Pascual and Joey Marquez) whose paths they cross.

The On the Job sequel cast reportedly includes Dennis Trillo, Lotlot de Leon, Ricky Davao, William Martinez, John Arcilla, Dante Rivero, Vandolph Quizon, and Eric Fructuoso.
