Erik Matti's Buybust Will Be Released in the U.S.

The film has been picked up for a U.S. release by the same company that brought 'Train to Busan' to the States.

We were supposed to go out and see Erik Matti's Buybust tomorrow, if the original February 28 release date had stuck. But about a week ago, the film's official Facebook page announced that they were "planning a bigger Buybust" and as such, were targeting a new release date:

It turns out that they were referring to a international release, as confirmed when the Hollywood Reporter recently announced that Well Go USA Entertainment had acquired North American rights to the film. Well Go is the same distribution label that brought Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan and Matti's own On The Job to the States; and is known for championing international indie action films.

"Erik Matti is always top of class when it comes to Filipino genre films, but with Buybust, he has truly outdone himself,” said Well Go USA's Dylan Marchetti. “If you lose your mind for an amazing action film, the last hour of Buybust is going to blow your head clean off.”

Well Go will be releasing the film in theaters later this year, followed by a digital and home video release. No specific date has been announced, but for a Filipino film that's this exciting, sooner would certainly be better than later.
