Everything We Know So Far About Max Collins' Character in Citizen Jake
There’s been no shortage of teaser content for Citizen Jake, one of the most eagerly anticipated Filipino films of 2018. Director Mike de Leon has discussed his latest project in snippets posted on the official Citizen Jake Facebook page, which itself has been consistent in churning out behind-the-scenes photos and videos that give us a glimpse into the film that it’s shaping up to be.
Recently, the page has also released featurettes on some of the film’s supporting characters. In these featurettes, Atom Araullo, who himself plays Jake, interviews his co-stars and gets them to discuss their characters in depth. They’ve given us our best look yet at Jonie, son of the caretakers of Jake’s family home in Baguio, played by Ady Alandy; and at Mandy, Jake’s girlfriend, played by Max Collins. Watch:
Apart from Collins’ description of her character, we also get to see her flex her acting chops a little, notably in her audition tapes for the role. And while we don’t get any further concrete details on the film’s plot, it seems that Mandy will be a worthy foil, and a breakout role for the actress. The director himself doesn’t hold back praise in the caption, noting that he was impressed by Collins’ honest performance, and that “she reminded me of Isabelle Adjani in The Story of Adele H.” She gives us even more reason to look forward to the first Citizen Jake screenings in March.
Catch Citizen Jake at its first general public screening on Tuesday, March 13, at UP Diliman’s Cine Adarna.
