Nocebo Is Now Screening in 50+ Cinemas Nationwide

2022 was a significant year for Filipino performers. Dolly de Leon received international acclaim with her performance in The Triangle of SadnessSoliman Cruz won over critics for To the North, and newcomer Stefanie Arianne made a splash with her debut in Plan 75. Now, Filipinos can appreciate actress Chai Fonacier’s performance in the Filipino-Irish thriller Nocebo.

The critically-acclaimed psychological drama is now showing in over 50 cinemas nationwide, courtesy of TBA Studios. Starting today, January 18, viewers can watch Fonacier bring Filipino culture and folklore to the screen in Nocebo.

Directed by Irish filmmaker Lorcan Finnegan, Nocebo follows fashion designer Christine, played by Eva Green, who turns to Diana (Chai Fonacier), an OFW nanny who helps Christine with her mysterious illness with the use of Filipino folk healing. Mark Strong also stars as Eva Green’s husband Felix.

Fonacier was lauded by The New York Times for “her knack for coiled tension”, while Roger Ebert praised her “well-realized and deeply felt” performance.

Released in November 2022, Nocebo was produced by Brunella Cocchiglia and Emily Leo and co-produced by the Filipino production company, Epicmedia. It was executive produced by XYZ Films.
