The Film Formerly Known as 'Fisting' Takes Home 6 Awards at the C1 Originals Festival

A month of back-to-back film festivals reached the end of its first phase last night as the Cinema One Originals Festival closed with its awards night, held in ABS-CBN's Dolphy Theater.
After a nine-day run, the C1 competition films, including Paglisan, Never Tear Us Apart, Mamu and a Mother Too, Hospicio, A Short History of a Few Bad Things, Bagyong Bheverlynn, Asuang, Double Twisting Double Back and Pang-MMK were judged (by audiences and a jury consisting of Mac C. Alejandre, John Badalu, Patrick F. Campos, Piolo Pascual, and Rory B. Quintos) and then awarded accordingly.
Of nine films, there were three big winners: Paglisan, which took Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Music, and Champion Bughaw; Mamu and a Mother Too, which took Audience's Choice, Best Actress for Iyah Mina (now the first transwoman in C1 history to take the award), and Best Supporting Actor for Arron Villaflor; and Never Tear Us Apart, which took a total of six awards. Best Director: Whammy Alcazaren for Never Tear Us Apart
Best Actress: Iyah Mina for Mamu; and A Mother Too
Best Actor: Alwin Uytingco for Asuang
Best Supporting Actress: Mary Joy Apostol for Hospicio
Best Supporting Actor: Arron Villaflor for Mamu; and A Mother Too
Best Screenplay: Carl Papa and Aica Ganhinhin for Paglisan
Best Sound: Jess Carlos for Paglisan
Best Music: Tie between Erwin Romulo for Never Tear Us Apart and Teresa Barrozo for Paglisan
Best Editing: Ilsa Malsi for Never Tear Us Apart
Best Production Design: Thesa Tang for Never Tear Us Apart
Best Cinematography: Sasha Palomares for Never Tear Us Apart
Champion Bughaw: Paglisan by Carl Papa
