This would've been one of the best movie titles of recent memory, if not for a disappointing last-minute change. The feature formerly known as Fisting: Never Tear Us Apart, now renamed Never Tear Us Apart, is director Whammy Alcazaren's third film, slated to release as part of this year's Cinema One Originals Festival. It stars Ricky Davao, Meryl Soriano, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith; and, interestingly, was shot entirely using the iPhone X.

Check out the trailer:

The change of title was announced yesterday, October 2, at a Cinema One Originals press conference and through the film's official Facebook page. In an official statement, Cinema One Originals head Ronald Arguelles said, "We want to protect and allow the expression of our artist. Freedom to open discourse is a standard of a healthy community. However, there comes a point where we need to be responsive and responsible to the whole community." He went on to say that the festival would like to "encourage fearless and daring projects, but not at the expense of our corporate, social, and moral responsibilities."

For his part, Alcazaren denies that the production was forced to change its title, and says they had reached a "mutual understanding" with Cinema One. The film's official statement on its Facebook page, however, notes that they have had to shut down their promotions because of the change:

"Never Tear Us Apart" is the new title of Whammy Alcazaren's third film as requested by Cinema One Originals. It is sad...

That said, perhaps the film can live on in spirit as Fisting if people insist on calling it that.

Fisting tells the story of an aging spy and the afflictions of his family.

Catch Fisting when it hits theaters at the Cinema One Originals Festival, which runs from October 12 to 21. But do expect some perplexed stares from behind the ticket booth when you ask for two tickets to Fisting.
